Apple Watch 4 renders show off big new display
Those eager to get their wrists on the 2018 Apple Watch can tide themselves over with some fresh concept images. These clearly show the benefits of a much-anticipated larger screen by comparing the upcoming version with past ones.
The 2018 Apple Watch is also expected to sport a bigger battery and other enhancements.
Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities predicted this this week that Apple will offer its wearable in 40mm (1.57 inch) and 45 mm (1.78 in.) sizes. The current Series 3 version comes in 38mm (1.5 in.) and 42mm (1.65 in.) sizes.
“A bigger display will enhance the display of more information on screen and accommodate a bigger battery capacity for longer battery life,” said Kou in a note to investors this spring.

2017 vs. 2018 Apple Watch
Kuo is one of the most reliable sources for Apple’s future plans, so his tip sent concept designer Ben Geskin to the drawing board. He created several images showing the rumored Series 4 wearable side-by-side with some earlier versions. These clearly show how much better this device could look.
Geskin is assuming that the 2018 Apple Watch will have the same size casing, and smaller bezels will make room for the bigger display. But Kuo’s comments about a larger screen making room for a bigger battery imply that the whole casing will increase in size.
Other 2018 Apple Watch improvements
Kuo also said this week that Apple’s next wearable will have an improved heart-rate monitor.
Other sources in Apple’s supply chain indicated last month that Series 4 devices have solid state buttons with haptic feedback, rather than standard buttons.
The 2018 Apple Watch is expected to be announced this fall, possibly in September along with the next-generation iPhone. And why not the 2018 iPad Pro too?
