The iPhone 8 may take some design cues from the Apple Watch, if the latest rumor out of Asia turns out to be true.

Apple will supposedly use an improved version of the Apple Watch’s stainless steel as the frame for the new iPhone 8. Glass in the front and the back will sandwich the stainless steel plate on the iPhone 8 but, according to the report, it won’t have a curved screen.

Instead of calling the new device “iPhone 8” or “iPhone X,” Japanese Apple blog Macotakara claims Apple will name the device the “iPhone Edition.”

The site also confirms a previous rumor from DigiTimes that the iPhone 8 will feature 2.5D, edge-reinforced glass. Because Apple is switching toward more flexible OLED displays, many fans anticipated that the premium 2017 iPhone would feature a curved display like the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Macotakara also backs up rumors that the premium 2017 iPhone’s rear dual-lens camera will switch to a vertical array. The change will facilitate better VR features. Alleged leaked schematics of the iPhone 8 also show that Apple may move the flash to a spot between the two lenses.

As for the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, the report claims Apple will make the devices slightly thicker, even though they’ll look just like previous-generation devices. Apple is expected to unveil all three new iPhones at an event this fall.
