Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Redstone 5 Build

Posted March 29, 2018 | Redstone 5 | Skip Ahead | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows Insider Program

Microsoft is rolling out a new Redstone 5 build of Windows 10 to Windows Insiders today. Those parts of Skip Ahead in the Windows Insider program can now get their hands on the new build of the OS.

The new build, 17634, doesn’t bring a lot of new features. But it brings a useful new feature: the ability to search within the Outlook Calendar app. With today’s build, users can now search for events using things like the location, people, or the name of the event which is pretty useful if you have a busy schedule.

Microsoft is also updating the new Cortana Show Me app with today’s build. The app, which guides users through the Settings app, can now be activated using just your voice. For example, you can ask Cortana “show me how to change my screen brightness” and it will automatically start the guide using the Show Me app.

And that’s really about it for the new Redstone 5 build. Microsoft is yet to completely focus on the development of Redstone 5, so these early builds won’t include a lot of big new, exciting features. Once Microsoft releases the Redstone 4 update to the public next month, that should change.
