Microsoft’s new Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID has a hidden fingerprint sensor that looks just like any other key, offering a slight security boost for privacy-focused users.

The product website detailing the new keyboard noted that it won’t be limited to Windows systems: Users on macOS, Android, and iOS will be able to use the $130 Modern Keyboard as well. Here are the supported OS versions:

  • Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8
  • Microsoft Windows 10 phone
  • Android 4.4.2-5.0
  • macOS 10.10.5/10.11.1, and 10.11.4
  • iOS8.1-9.2.1

The Microsoft Modern Keyboard has an aluminum frame, with a design reminiscent of the Apple Magic Keyboard. Strangely, the website notes that the keyboard itself is heavy, seemingly in an effort to play up its sturdiness, as it also calls the keyboard “virtually indestructible.”

The keyboard can be paired wirelessly via Bluetooth, or can simply be plugged in with the provided cable. It is compatible with Bluetooth LE, and utilizes a 2.4 GHz frequency range, the website said. It works at up to a 50 foot distance in open air.

The battery will last up to two months on a single charge, the site said, and the keyboard comes with a one-year limited warranty. At the time of this writing, the availability was listed as “Coming soon.”

The company also launched an accompanying Modern Mouse, which will cost $50. The mouse is wireless only, pairing via Bluetooth 4.0, and also operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range. It features a metal click wheel, but it is only compatible with Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

  2. The keyboard is wireless or wired, and works with Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
