The long wait for Apple’s peer-to-peer payments feature in iOS 11 may soon be over.

Apple employees have allegedly begun testing the Apple Pay Cash feature internally, according to a new report that reveals details on what the setup process is like as well as how to send money to your contacts.

Screenshots of the virtual Apple Pay Cash card were posted by a MacRumors forum member today who received them from an Apple employee. The feature works through the iMessage app allowing you to text a contact money.

One of the screenshots shows the Apple Pay Cash card during the setup process. The other shows what it’s like to try to transfer money to a friend. Transfering Apple Pay Cash won’t work though unless both devices are running a build of iOS that supports the feature.

To use the feature you’ll need to link your credit or debit card to your account. Using a debit card is free but credit card transactions comes with a 3% fee. Received funds can be stored on an Apple Pay Cash card in the Wallet app, or routed directly to your bank account.

Apple previewed Apple Pay Cash at WWDC 2017 in June. The feature hasn’t made its way into any developer betas yet though. It is expected to launch later this year and could make it into future beta builds of iOS 11.1 based on these screengrabs.
