Apple has signaled it has mobile software fixes on the way by releasing a beta update of iOS. Only iPhone and iPad users enrolled in Apple’s beta testing program can download and install the update.

Apple released iOS 11.2.5 developer beta 2 on Tuesday with unspecified bug fixes and improvements. When iOS 11 was released in September, some users experienced download failures. There was also a maddening autocorrect glitch that turned the letter “i” into a question mark.

Apple has since released a couple of other updates to address specific bugs.

Any user can be in the iOS beta testing program, but usually developers get the first crack at a beta release. Apple advises that interested users run beta software on secondary devices until a more formal update is released.

OS X Daily notes that Apple skipped a few numbers when it named this beta build iOS 11.2.5. The current iOS is 11.2.1, which means Apple may release other updates.

Apple on Monday released beta software for macOS High Sierra. Last week, Cupertino rolled out new betas for iOS, tvOS and watchOS.
