Meet HomePod! Apple's new smart speaker aims to rock the house and reinvent home audio

What’s so intriguing about it? Well, HomePod seems to be geared towards bringing a superior audio experience in addition to going toe to toe with competing devices in the AI assistant department.
Standing at just under 7 inches, the gadget packs a custom-designed A8 chip, a 4-inch woofer that provides a deep bass with minimal distortion, and an array of seven beam-forming tweeters for directional control. The hardware supplements the HomePod’s spatial awareness capabilities, which detect the dimensions of a given room and automatically adjust the audio in order to ensure good acoustics.
Deep integration with Apple Music allows access to the app’s entire music library and any preferences that you may have on existing devices. Siri is also on board, handling advanced musical searches in addition to all of its current and announced capabilities.
HomePod will be available for $349 in white and space gray. It will launch in December in three markets – Australia, the UK, and the US. Additional markets will be included in 2018.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more info.
