On Tuesday, Apple gave one of it’s most important presentations of the week: the new version of Swift, it’s popular multi-platform programming language.

It was a big session because it gave all of the developers at WWDC a quick overview of the new features and pointed them to sessions that dove deeper on certain topics.

Above is my sketchnote from the session. I always feel over my head in the Swift talks, but I feel like the improvements will make Swift more accessible to developers like me, who are just getting started.

I think it is very good improvement to the speed of Swift and the fundamentals have been made even better.

It’s easy to get started in Swift Playgrounds on the iPad (Apple’s easy-to-use programming app for students) and then send your code to Xcode to explore even more. Swift Playgrounds tighter integration with Xcode makes it easier to get started, even if you are not a kid.

The new version focuses on refining the fundamental language, making it easier for all levels to program faster and better.

The new updates to Swift 4 include Github integrated into Xcode, a new build system, faster generic code, and many other code enhancements.

Swift is still overwhelming, but Swift in general is more approachable than Objective C.

I do think they should use my bird as an alternative logo for Swift.
