Sky Gamblers: Infinite Jets, and other awesome apps of the week

A fun dogfighting flight sim that sees you shoot down enemy jets and gunships in scintillating styles is just one of our picks for this week’s “Awesome Apps” roundup. We’ve also got a superb grammar-oriented third party keyboard, a brilliant augmented reality update to a big retail app, and a fun RPG that’ll keep you busy for days.
Check out our picks below.
Sky Gamblers: Infinite Jets
A great modern day flight sim for iOS, Atypical Games’ Sky Gamblers: Infinite Jets is a jet dogfighting game, which puts you in control of your pick of more than 100 jet planes (so not quite the infinite number promised in the title, but pretty impressive, nonetheless.)
The planes handle well, there are plenty of real life locations, and an impressive array of enemies to shoot down or otherwise destroy. Beyond this, you get to upgrade your vehicles, and compete in competitive online play, which makes an already enjoyable experience even better.

Grammarly Keyboard
Photo: Grammarly
Considering how much of our communication we now carry out by typing messages on our mobile devices, making sure that they read as clearly as possible is kind of a priority. Fortunately, Grammarly’s new third-party keyboard is here to help in that department — by proofreading your text in any app which uses a keyboard, and pulling you up on grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors.
Way better than just a regular spellcheck tool, the Grammarly Keyboard is something that’s going to be useful to just about everyone.

Final Fantasy Dimensions II
Launched in Japan in February 2015, but only making its way to the U.S. and Europe now, Final Fantasy Dimensions II is a stripped-down RPG experience with an all-new storyline. While it bafflingly has little to do with the original Final Fantasy Dimensions, aside from the franchise name, it’s enormously fun in its own right — even if it might be a little simplistic for hardened RPG fans.

Amazon
Amazon took a page out of Ikea’s playbook this week with an update to its iOS app, allowing users to see what furniture and other items would look like in their home.
Launching AR View can be done through the Amazon iOS app. To pull up the feature, tap on the camera icon in the search bar, then tap AR View. You can then select a product and move it around using one finger. Use two fingers to rotate it. Amazon says that thousands of products can be tested in this way, and more will roll out over time.
