First Ring Daily 413: The 1803 Fuchsia

MS should be so very thankful that Google didn’t get all their ducks in a row the first time around, and is now being forced to reset the playing field with their Project Fuchsia. If Android, which is in many ways a branding failure IMO, had somehow been a unified “Google OS” that just so happens to scale well onto Laptops and desktop PC’s, Microsoft’s demise in the home would have already been far more complete than it currently is. Google would now be working on the Business PC takeover angle. Instead, Google is admitting they went down the wrong road with ChromeOS/Android, and trying to unify that into the “holy grail” of OS’s, after the fact. So now they’ll need to retain a lot of backward compatibility, which could muddy the waters of Fuchsia somewhat, but it is still the right thing for them to do, IMO.
